Please allow me to revise my statement:
I said:
"There is no program that uses LPT port CW keying on NT, 2K, or XP that does
not require some sort of intermediate LPT port driver (not a CW driver)."
I should have said:
"There is no **full featured Windows contest logging** program **equivalent
to Writelog** that uses LPT port CW keying on NT, 2K, or XP that does not
require some sort of intermediate LPT port driver (not a CW driver)."

Subject: Re: [WriteLog] WriteLog requires CW Driver!
The problem is that Windows XP does not permit direct access to the LPT
port, just like Windows NT and Windows 2000.
It is an operating system issue, it is not a Writelog issue.
There is no program that uses LPT port CW keying on NT, 2K, or XP that does
not require some sort of intermediate LPT port driver (not a CW driver).
If you did any research, you would find numerous references and discussions
of this issue going back for years - as I said, this goes all the way back
to Windows NT when Microsoft in their wisdom caused this whole problem.
In addition, it only takes about 5 minutes to download and install
Userport(or one of the other *FREE* solutions). You do it once, and you
never have to think about it again. It's just not that big of a deal. In
fact, it's less troublesome than the old "COMTSR" situation we all "loved"
in CT to just use the serial ports. Imagine that, a DOS program that
required you to load a serial port driver! Not only every time you ran the
program, but once for each serial port!
If the LPT driver does not work right, it is not a Writelog problem.
It may be a problem with your computer or it's LPT port configuration, or
you might have some other software running that uses the LPT port (print
buffer, tape backup device etc.).
Bottom line, anyone expecting to use LPT port CW keying on NT, 2K or XP
without loading some sort of intermediate driver, and perhaps doing some
config work, is simply mistaken.
