You are correct Garry - the % sign by itself will sound out serial
numbers properly.   

But, you can also use %1, %2, %3, %4 and %5 to send specifically
recorded number files, instead of just sounding out indivdual numbers.

I use %5 (00001.wav, 00002.wav for example) for number repeats,
("3-oh-1, 3-hundred-one, number three-oh-one.")  

The reason I mentioned that in an earlier message was that Jack was
using %3 - that will sound out three numbers (zero-zero-one, etc.)
But you can also record 001.wav, 002.wav, etc to have a less-robotic
sounding wav. file.
