Greetings!

Success at last! Hallelujah!

One other thing I needed to do was make some changes to the jumpers on my
RIGblaster Plus. The jumper pattern I wound up with is NOT one that West
Mountain Radio suggests in the manual, so it was helpful to know that I
wanted the PTT on RTS (already knew that keying was on TXD). Curiously, with
these settings I can no longer do "Sound Board FSK" with RittyRite, although
I might be overlooking something there.

One thing that may have been leading me astray as I tried various
configurations is that clicking the TX button on the MMTTY plug-in window
does NOT put the transceiver into transmit as it does with the MMTTY
standalone program. I had to hit one of the F keys to play back a stored
message in order to trip the PTT and send data. This is something worth
pointing out to others, I believe.

I checked CW via the LPT using DirectIO for a shim, and that works fine too.
I'm going to grab Userport and see how that does, since it's free and
DirectIO isn't (unless one wants to download the trial version every month).

OK, so I spent another $18 for a third USB - > RS-232 adapter. I've done a
lot worse things. It may come in handy some day.

Now, can someone tell me why WriteLog displays the FIRST QSO in the log
instead of the most recent one? I have to scroll down each time I start the
program to get the log where I want it (my DXCC log has contacts going back
to 1996, when I got this call sign). CT, Log-EQF and pretty much any other
logging program I've ever seen default to the most recent contact(s) in the
log window. Can this be changed?

I sincerely appreciate all the generous help and especially all the time
Charlie spent with me on the telephone yesterday, trying to sort this out.

I may be ready to roll now!

73, Rick, N1RL

Rick,

Don is correct. It appears that the "Software generated FSK"
settings do work with MMTTY at least it does with both a FTDI
chip based USB -> serial converter and microHAM USB Interface
II.

If you have MMTTY running with EXTFSK:
   1) note which lines you are using for data and PTT (data
should be TxD or DTR and PTT should be RTS).
   2) Install the MMTTY Plug-in if you have not done so.
   3) Start WriteLog
   4) Select FSK on the radio (or manually in the entry
      window)
   5) Open a RTTY Window
   6) On the Ports menu, select the port you were using for
EXTFSK. Select either of the "Software Generated
FSK" choices depending on the line you used for data
      and answer "Yes"

This should get you running with the plug-in and a USB port.
