This problem was likely not caused by microHAM at all.

WriteLog version 11.21 fixes a long-standing bug that
intermittently caused a crash (MFC application stopped working.)
Two things conspired to make it happen more often. WriteLog
11.12's addition of a WinKey "close" command changed the timing
in WriteLog such that the bug was much more likely (I think
it was impossible to hit before, actually). And microHAM users
saw it more often, I suspect, because they are more likely to
have to make COM port changes using WriteLog's Setup/Ports window.

The problem fixed by 11.21 was not only intermittent, but also
only occurred when you did OK or Apply on WriteLog's Setup/Ports
window with either WinKey setting for CW. If instead you
successfully got through Setup/Ports and then did Setup/Save
configuration, you can run indefinitely, stopping and restarting
WriteLog, without hitting the crash. (For those that are
REALLY sticklers for details, the crash happened only if
you were changing FROM WinKey--the CW setting you are changing
TO is irrelevant.)

Bottom line:
If you're running WL versions 11.12 through 11.20, either upgrade
to WL 11.21, or be aware that Setup/Ports and WinKey might
crash. If it happens, try again, do Setup/Save-Configuration, and
be happy that you are able to make any changes at all.

PS: WL 11.21 also introduces a crash dump feature. The good news
is that WriteLog users should never again see "MFC Application
stopped working". The bad news, WriteLog can still crash. But,
when it does, it will put up a box that doesn't say "MFC Application
stopped working" and instead says it wrote a crash dump file.
Sometimes that dump file will reveal the cause of the crash.
