Specifically, that means that Writelog is sending commands to the
transceiver and those commands are being received (e.g., transceiver
frequency is being set) but either the transceiver is not sending
data to WriteLog or WriteLog is not requesting (polling) for the
transceiver information.

You should be able to determine the source of the "disconnect" by
simple troubleshooting steps - start with a "port spy" and look
for the data between WriteLog and the rig *in both directions*.

Do you have "Poll" checked for the transceiver on the Port Setup?

ON this computer the Silicon Labs Enhanced COM Port is Com7. In Device Manager,
Ports (COM & LPT), Property, Advanced there is the ability to slow down the
Receive and Transmit Buffers. I tried to reduce this setting to first 3/4 scale
and then half scale, but it appeared to have no effect on the problem at hand so I
have put them back to default. Under the Port Setting I tried setting the Bits per
second to 19200 but it did not have any effect either. BTW I reboot the computer
between each change.

IDK it is driving me crazy!

Jim:

Bring up the Band Map. Right click in the Entry window and bring it up. Just
the Band Map only and not Band Map on 2nd VFO

Let us know if the Band Map frequency display changes as you dial the VFO. In
other words, does it track the frequency up and down as you dial it.

Yes, typing the frequency in the call entry will change and actually display it
properly, but it will not change when I tune the VFO... and I can enter
another frequency this way and it will change in the WL displayed.

Joe/K4TV, I do have the radio in VFO mode as indicated by the A on the display.

Can you type in

7000 in the call entry field, hit enter and the radio frequency changes to
7000??

If not, the link isn't working
If yes, ....hummm

No sir! I don't think it is, because I can spin the dial and the frequency
changes on the radio but not WL. Actually, it is fully functional with another
logging program.

Is it possible you have the dial "locked" on the rig itself? Unlock it, if it
is.

I had that happen to me before.

Subject: [WriteLog] FT-891 Setup in Writelog

I am having some trouble setting up the rig control for a FT-891 using Writelog
12.59F.

I selected FT-991 from the Rig Type and the enhanced port on my laptop which is
Com7, baud rate 19200 that matches the radio menu setting, poll checked and
Comm PTT NO.

I can enter a frequency in the QSO entry window and it will move the radio to
that frequency and display the frenquency properly. But turning the VFO know
does not have any effect on the displayed frequency.

Anybody, have any suggestion for this?

Jim/KC4HW
