You really do need to open it up to be sure.
Your s/n seems to say it is a 1990 build (or 2000?) and the
H should mean June (C=Jan, D=Feb, etc.) The leading zero
gives the year. The remaining numbers identify manufacturing
lot (production run) and the last few digits are the unique
number of your radio. You can probably get a more accurate
description of how a s/n is built, but that is close.

If you have a basic FT-1000 (non-D), you might find that
the receiver goes dead in the 250Hz and 2.0 KHz positions-
if you lack those respective filters in the *2nd* IF. If the rx is
'live at all 4 BW settings, then you have all 4 filters in the
2nd IF. In that case, you really need to open it up to take a
look at the 3rd IF positions. It is pretty hard to tell just by
tuning around.

If you open up the radio, you can easily determine if the
sub-rx CW filter is present- look on the right side of the radio
on the sub-rx board for it. You can check with the covers on,
however. Put the radio in the Stereo setting (switch position
"st" on the top of the radio inside the door). Plug in headphones.
Set front panel DUAL control on. Tune around in USB or LSB
and verify that you can hear both receivers in the headphones.
Then change the mode of the main-rx to CW and then punch
the A>B button. If the sub-rx goes dead, you will know the CW
filter is not installed. Now punch SUB on the numeric keypad
and then select USB or LSB with the mode buttons. If the sub-
rx did indeed go dead before, putting it in an SSB mode will bring
it back to life. This makes the sub-rx usable in cw mode without
the accessory filter- you run the main-rx in CW and the sub-rx
in USB. Then the sub-rx can still receive, but it
will be quite wide, having only a single SSB BW
ceramic filter in circuit.
Hope this helps. 73, enjoy... David K3KY
