Hi Bill.  Have a TS-940S and just wired up an amp a
few days ago.   Do a quick test with the 7-pin din
connector plugged into the Kenwood.  

On the PHONO PLUG end of the cable, check to see if
you get any voltage or continuity when the radio is
keyed.  If it is, the relay is OK inside the radio. 
If not, you may have a defective amp relay.  

The shield of the ALC and shield of the relay TR go to
the same point on the 7-pin din.   

Also, a Radio Shack 8-pin DIN plug with the middle pin
cut off will work fine -- could not find a 7 pin din
for a couple weeks so used this and did my own cut job
on the middle pin.....just bent the other pins back
out of the way, snipped of the middle pin, and bent
the remaining 7 pins back in shape.  Plugs right in
and is only $2 bucks.
