I think Eimac came on to something when they started making ceramic metal
anode tubes like the 3CX800 and 8877. I think they realized these tubes would
be more stable and easier to work with in amplifiers. My AL-1500 doesn't
have (that thing) on the anode of the tube connection, try that with a
4-1000.
