Have you considered using a cabinet of the type used for older model
ham transmitters/receivers?
For example:
Johnson Viking I/II
Collins 75A/2/3/4
There are hundreds of these things out there .. some in JUNK condition
.. that could be repainted/restored .. and would serve your purpose
quite well.
