Alfred,

I see the time constraint as an issue that will continue to grow as our
lives become more and more complicated,
its not about winning, is about participating and competing at whatever
level, single element, half a coax, Gutter antennas etc..
A guy wants to increase his score every year ( if on its way some plaque is
won, great), I dont see how highly commited individuals
or single parents or guys with two jobs can keep trying to improve their
level of competition and improvement if they know that
something along the way will create a complication for some part of their
weekend.

I say give it a try, If nobody likes it well... no harm done, no weird rule
that would ever change the contest structure..
At the End of the day its competition, but at a more accesible level it
will be easier for these stations to set goals that they can go after
year after year, who knows maybe after theyve master the 24 youll see them
at the 48 hrs level.

My ..--- cents

I see two issues here.

1. Create another category so more folks have a chance at wallpaper

2. a way to run a contest "seriously" without killing your weekend (and
putting other parts of your life in jeopardy) and still have stations to
compare yourself to.

If we add a 24 hour category for those who can't put in 24 hours due to
life's restraits, why not a CC&R category for all of us restricted by that -
or a single element on every band category for those whith no tower? Where
does it stop if we make this new category?

I'm a big proponent of publishing as much information as possible with the
score results (i.e. hours worked, basic station descreption etc.). This
would allow competetors to look at results from similarly equiped stations
who worked a similar number of hours and see how they faired in comparison.
This doesn't add another category that could be won, but frankly my shack is
in the basement wtih cement walls, and it's hard to put up plaques on that
stuff!
