Mike VE9AA: I agree with you. After nearly a century of contests, we have figured out that the optimum speed in major CW contests is 30-35 wpm. We do slow down when required, then we go back to what we know works well. If slowing down was the "key" to success in CW contests, many contesters would have found that ideal lower speed a long time ago.
