Ok, but I have to admit being prejudiced against auto racing due to the
disgraceful incident many years ago when a turbine engine car almost won
the Indy 500, losing on the last lap or two due to a mechanical failure
unrelated to the engine. Turbines were immediately banned for all
following races. Remember?

Up until then I too was a fan of auto racing, swallowing the industry
line about all the great improvements, blah, blah, blah. When a REAL
improvement came on the scene, it was immediately banned. It left a
sour taste which is still there.
