Hello,

I don't know if its any better, but I did another recording of my 20
meter easterly noise with the gain down and AGC on:

    http://roodes.com/k6nr/20m-AM-AGC.wav

The recording is done off my sound card on the PC at the remote
station which is connected to the line output of the K3. I don't use
the sound card for operating except for RTTY, I have the K3 speaker
going to a phone line for CW and SSB. The mic gain on the sound card
was all the way up during the previous recording.

The noise was on today by 330pm. I'll have to keep some notes but
seems to me it comes on slowly starting in the afternoon and is worse
during the evening. I don't know when it goes off, but its not a
problem around 8 or 9 am.

The noise has a sputtering component that I hear best on 20m when the
antenna is pointed east. The sputtering component blends into the
noise and is not as noticeable when I turn the antenna somewhat north
or south. I may have more than one noise.

The noise is not as prominent on 15m, and I can't really hear the
sputtering at all on 10. The noise is very bad on 40m and 80m as
well.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll check some stuff out next time I'm
out there. I have driven around listening on 6m and 2m AM when the
20m noise is on, I don't think I've ever heard it mobile except on
20m.

  Dana
