Most UPS units operate in STANDBY mode, monitoring the power line and
going into ACTIVE mode only when power fails. They are FAR more likely
to generate RF trash when they are ACTIVE -- that is, when power has
failed and they are regenerating power as a train of square waves, or
"modified" square waves. In standby mode, the only thing you MIGHT hear
is digital circuitry associated with monitoring.
