I have a Holland St5128s I want to add a scope (ideally, hand held)
output to. First I'll have to suppress its own display-generated RFI.
It's still pretty much the case that base-band video doesn't take a lot
of bandwidth; more than audio, perhaps, but 20 KHz lets you see a lot of
the envelope for signature identification. There's still portability.
None of my SA's are really portable. If I get any taxes back (hah) i
may buy one of the new handheld spectrum analyzers to replace the
Holland. We have an EMI problem at our club station, too.

The terminology they use is somewhat different than what most of us
would use. What they call a field strength meter in the CATV industry
is actually a frequency selective voltmeter - a basic tunable
receiver. Those meters have a video output intended to drive a scope,
which many have used to see power line noise signatures. But exactly
what is output on that port I honestly don't know. I may have to buy
one and look at what comes out of that port on my 100 MHz scope in the
shop to figure it out. It's probably supposed to be obvious, but...
not to me.
