Thanks for the education, Dave. Complete news to me. If you try hard enough, it's possible to learn something new every day!

Suppression could be tricky -- it's designed to sense transients, and a differential choke would likely attenuate them. A common mode choke sounds safe though, but it could be difficult to fit one into a typical electrical backbox.
