Thank you Rick, Dave, and Scott for the comments.

Scott, since my neighbors installed their battery system around 9 months ago, I have not observed any increase in interference sources using any of my station antennas. I took this as an indication that Base Power systems were not going to be especially disruptive (my neighbor's house is directly across the street from me).

My thought process for initially using  the SA with its built in antenna was similar to what Dave mentioned that I would hopefully get some time of rough indication of the difference between background noise level and any RFI from the inverter. I definitely did not expect to use it to measure exact values.

The fact that I don't have any noise issues with the system around 100 ft away doesn't mean that I won't have an issue with a system installed on my patio within close proximity to my antennas. I also believe that observing the rapid fall off of the inverter noise as I moved away is a positive indication but as has been mentioned, the inefficient antenna on the SA will show a quicker drop off than with an antenna tuned for the frequency of interest.

I also do have a Tecsun PL-660 which I want to take over but to be completely satisfied that t he system will not be a issue, I will most likely have to do what Rick initially mentioned.

Thanks again for all the responses, they have been very helpful

I'm not sure any receiver or SA is likely to hear "band noise" with a very small, untuned antenna. A good test would be to see if it can hear any of the weaker signals you can hear with a larger antenna.
