I noticed the same thing here in VE3 land in the 1998-1999 and 1999-2000
seasons [ I have only been on Topband since 1998 ]. The signals from VK and
ZL seemed to be peaking here @ 1.5 to 2 hours before sunrise. When they
peaked that early I found that they usually faded out @ 60 min before sunrise
and usually did not reappear. On the days when they were peaking at or about
sunrise I found that there was usually no pre-sunrise peak although the odd
time there was both.
I wonder what mechanism drives this unusual form of propagation on 160 ??
