The information regarding K6STI's horizontal loop receiving antenna reminded
me of the challenge left by W6FA in April, 1998 QST. His very interesting
commentary in Technical Correspondence on the K9AY Terminated Loop gave some
historical background to this antenna, which can be traced back to
Beverage's work patented in 1938 on the terminated loop. He surmised that
Beverage's loop might be useful for low frequency purposes in a horizontal
arrangement with direction switching. Suggestions were given, but no
details.

As far as I know, no one has done any work with his ideas. His full text of
his commentary is available on the ARRL website if you don't have the QST
issue. Just type "K9AY loop" in the site search engine.

Anyone willing to take this concept to the next level of
design/modeling/construction?
