Rick N6PE,

You said "I hope all the propagation programs are wrong, otherwise there
doesn't appear to be much chance to work them from my S-8 noise level in W6
land hi hi"

Your propagation prediction on 160-Meters likely assumes multi-hop, and your
path to PS0T (about 9800 km) assuming multi-hop is at least 4 hops – likely
more. But if conditions are right, don't rule out a short-term
signal enhancement (which is believed to be due to ducting).
A good recent example of this is when NR1DX in MN reported a significant
enhancement of the signal from HU2DX (YS) last February over their 3464 km
path. HU2DX's signal was normally around S4 to S5 during the hours after NR1DX
sunset, but rose to approximately S9 about 1 hour before HU2DX sunrise. This
enhancement lasted for 30 minutes or so and then the signal dropped down to S4
again until it went into the noise after HU2DX sunrise.
No one can guarantee this will occur or exactly when it will happen, but if it
happens I hope you're there to take advantage of it.
Carl K9LA
