There is a device which will prevent serious injury if you fall from a
tower. ( the tower falling is another question ) It is a decelerator
inertial belt. Steve mentioned the correct name in a private msg, but
you see people using them all the time at stores like Home Depot.

Basically, if you fall, the thing recognizes it, and brings you to
a gentle halt after so far....Of course, you must hook it to the top
of the tower. Belt resembles an ordinary safety belt. The line which
stops your fall looks like about a 2" nylon web. Whole principle is
similar to that of a seat belt, except this one gives you time to wet
your pants until it stops you.
