Like most other companies, Cushcraft is evaluating
expenses, costs, advertising results, and all the other
facets of their business. Hamfests are very expensive to
attend because of the expense of shipping displays, booth
costs, and travel expense for staff. The two Florida hamfests
of Miami and Orlando happen in the same time frame and not a
long way apart distance wise. Cushcraft simply made the
decision not to attend both. They will be in attendance at
Dayton and other hamfests the rest of 1998.

Production on the X7 and X9 is increasing. It has been
delayed because of certain extrusions not being delivered on time.
These parts should be delivered shortly and delivery of these antennas
in quantity should be forthcoming. Fairly sizeable numbers of
X9s have been shipped and initial reports on the antennas are very
positive. The X9 has been used in some of the recent contests with
very good results and it has also been exposed to the Super 98 New
England winter storms without problems.

The new heavy duty version of the 40 meter yagi is undergoing
tests now to see how it holds up to the snow, wind, ice, etc etc of
the New England coast. More info on this later.
