Tnx Steve. This explains why they told me they were having a parts
"shortage" right now when I called last week to ask about availability of
their V2/V4 antennas. They told me they'd have trouble filling an order of
15-16 antennas! (for local ARES groups for Y2K). I thought that was really
strange, but now it makes some sense. They didn't want to make any
promises they might not be able to keep with things kind of in a state of
flux.
Just in case MFJ decides to dump the V-line of VHF/UHF antennas: Does
anyone have a recommendation for a good VHF/UHF ham dual-bander that is NOT
a fiber-glass radom type unless it has a heavy duty grounded metallic cap
on top of it (we're in lightning country), and is very rugged and somewhat
cheaper than a commercial antenna like a Decibel or a Scala? I'm specking
these for the local utility for ARES volunteers to use during possible Y2K
events or other situations.
Please reply direct! If anyone else is interested, I'll put out a direct
