I recall from a previous go-round on this subject a fellow recommended a
piece
of a special belt from a harvester.  Seems it is indestructible and doesn't
disintegrate
from sun.

Since sandpaper is on a paper backing I would be concerned it may
disintegrate
and the grit would find its way into the rotor (its amazing what gets into
the things).
Or it may land in some rubbing point between cables and tower, etc. or some
other
place where one wouldn't want it.

Just a thought ...
