OM,

In a former life, I put up TV antennae.

In Cincy, you should find a wholesaler who deals in Channel Master
products.

They make a dandy push-up mast, "wall mounts" and other assorted stuff.

You may wish to use 10' lengths of 1 1/2" 16 gauge masting that has a
swaged

(reduced diameter) end. Works fine, is seriously strong, is powder
coated and

they last a long time and are amazingly rust-resistant.

You will find the CM stuff costs about half again as much as the "big
box" (Loews,

Home Depot) TV stuff. Youse gets whats youse pays for....HI!

Be sure to ground the antenna as well as the mast per local code.

Other options include galvanized water pipe......HEAVY!!, or rigid EMT.
I'd not be

led into the temptation of using aluminum EMT as it is very soft (made
that way

so it would be easy to bend) and you would want to deliver yourself from
the

evil of thinwall EMT as you can hear it rust even as we speak....HI!
(also, the

connectors are pot metal and very, very weak.)

By the way, another reason not to use water pipe.....it WILL break at the
threads.

I've replaced many water pipes with proper masting . The catch is that
the threads

not only cut through the protective galvanizing but into the thickness of
the

pipe. Not only does this create a place for rust to begin but it greatly
decreases

the strength of the pipe.
