No, they're designed by engineers and built by craftsmen. Maybe some of

What? That big towers can take big loads but they can't take HUGE loads?
While many towers are designed for 1 or 2-inch radial ice loading, I think
this tower had almost a foot of ice on it. This was probably a
hundred-year-occurrence for an ice storm that significant.
Goes to show you that even if you "DO what the manufacturer says",
something freakish and fatal can happen.
