Never climbed a really tall TV tower, but I once did a newspaper feature story
on a
sandblasting/painting crew that was redoing a couple hundred foot water tower
in the
town where I worked in the late 1960s. They had a basket with an air powered
motor,
hooked to a compressor by a really long hose, and you just moved a lever in the
basket to go up or down. I had been up top a while interviewing several of the
painters and when I came down the wind picked up and caused the basket to go
round
and round, like one of those "teacup" rides at a fair, I was more than glad,
besides
being a bit green in color, to finally get back on the ground.
