Yes there is:

ACI 318-02 Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete
ACI 301-XX Specifications for Structural Concrete for Buildings

Both from ACI (American Concrete Institute)

ACI 318 is reference by all the building codes in the US and 301 is
referenced by 318. See chapter 6 in each.

There is no requirement for epoxy bonding of construction joint in
either. There are requirements for cleaning the joining surface of loose
concrete and laitance prior to placing. The concept is to insure a good
bond to the previously place concrete by the newer concrete.

The location of joints is critical and the reinforcing must be
continuous through the joint in most cases.

Look in your local library or go to the ACI or PCA web sites for further
information.

I have been following this thread simply because it is interesting. Not
trying to flame anyone, but the one thing that appears to be missing in
all
of the advise, is a source of authority for any of the methods being
described (or information presented). I for one would like to hear what
a
concrete professional has to say about it. Surely there is a 'standard'
that has been developed and published somewhere! Is there a
'concreteologist' in the house? o;)
