After a cycle of living in the jungle in the middle of nowhere, I have
moved to my former
QTH, only to find that there is a ham on the other side of the football
pitch in the same
village, another very active ham just across the road & yet another active
guy in the
village just beyond that (all well within a km of me), I can confirm that
transmitter
spectral purity from them & a robust receiver for me is an absolute must.

Convincing them to bin their FT-1000s will not be easy.

Cooperation is also important.

I'm quickly finding that overall it was easier to deal with my own second rig
transmitting at full tilt into one band of my quad whilst simultaneously
listening
with the other rig on a different band on the same antenna than having
other hams
in such close proximity.

In my situation, about the only thing left to do is hope that cross-pol
isolation will
give me a few more dB less crud to listen through.
