Pat,

I made very careful VSWR and F/B ratio tests on my XM-240. Then I attached a 1.0" wide aluminum strap around the center of the reflector and bolted it to the channel to ground same.

Then I carefully re-tested the antenna and it was identical in every way. So, if there is some interaction with the reflector floating, it may disappear with the reflector grounded to the boom!

Hi Brad,

I also have a Ham IV, but didn't think it was up to the task. I will be turning the TH7, XM240, an 11 el. 2M yagi and a 21 ft chromoly mast. I purchased an Alfa Spid rotator to go with the new tower. I wanted to try something different and had read a lot of positive reviews about it. We will see if it is up to the task.

I will be interested in your experience with getting the two antennas to play nice together. I am thinking about grounding the reflector element since this is the only major difference from the older 402CD. That and the XM240 is much more robust. The 402CD seem to have less interaction with tribanders.

Pat,

Brad, K0BHC, here. I'm sorry I can't answer your question, but since I
recently acquired a TH7, and I'm buying an XM240 pretty soon, I thought I'd
take the opportunity to ask you what rotor you're using/planning to use?

I have a Ham IV and a Yaesu 800, and all I've heard says they're both up to
the task (barely), so I'm considering something bigger.

Thanks and 73,
Brad

Is anyone using a TH7/XM240 combination without much interaction? Do you
have the reflector grounded. I am in the process of putting up a new tower
and plan to place an XM240 about 10 FT above the TH7.

I have spent the whole morning reading the archives and see lots of postings
about interaction with the TH11 and a few with the TH7, but don't seen much
successful use of the combo. Any advice or comments would be appreciated.
