Hi Bill, Since we are on this ground radial kick, here is the best way. Run all the radials right up to the tower legs and attach them directly there. That will give you the lowest impedance ground system for both lightning and your rf ground. Connecting them at the ground rods leaves you with the longer higher inductance leads to the tower. They are larger in diameter and may have less inductance than a single radial lead but with several radial leads the inductance will be less. Think of each lead as an inductor. Placing inductors in parallel lowers the total inductance. 73 Gary K4FMX Bill Ogden wrote: I have a TX-455 crank-up tower and am attaching radials to it. (I feed the tower with a half-sloper connected to the top.) I have two ground stakes about 24" from two of the tower legs. The stakes are connected to the tower base with #2 battery cables. They clamp to the ground stakes very well, after inserting copper shims in the clamps. _______________________________________________ See: http://www.mscomputer.com for "Self Supporting Towers", "Wireless Weather Stations", and lot's more.
