When I read that AN Wireless charges $3 per ft. for their safety
lifeline system option (which includes the anchorage plates, cable
clamps and thimbles, and turnbuckle, in addition to the cable)

http://www.anwireless.com/lifeline.html

to be used in conjuction with the gizmo that grabs onto the cable

http://www.anwireless.com/ascender.html

it struck me as a terrible price, and I wondered whether I could get the
cable, thimbles, and turnbuckle for muuch less locally and buy just the
anchorage plates from Dan.

So far, the largest such cable I have found around here is only 5/16"
(vs. Dan's 3/8" cable), and it costs $2.43 per ft. anyway.

So, unless I am missing something, Dan's price for the whole kit and
kaboodle is pretty good.
