Well Steve, I don't "think" it's easier, I KNOW it's easier !! As for
being "installed" properly, well maybe you've never built your own
antenna. Installing a commercial antenna may be one thing, but
designing, building and tuning a homebrew antenna usually requires some
work. BTW even commercial antennas fail and require some work
occasionally, and many of us like to change and experiment with
different antennas. All this can be easier with a crank-up. For my
situation this isn't "maybe it's easier" it IS easier !!!
I've owned crank-ups, freestanding and guyed towers, and even if I moved
out to a 100ac. ranch I would still own a crank-up. Yes, a crank-up
tower can be dangerous. It's also dangerous driving a car, working on an
HF power amplifier or climbing a 100' tower.
