Stranded wire is fine for inside connections. The problem with it outside is
corrosion of the connections points. A good ground system maintenance
practice calls for inspecting and retightening all connections every year.
If a stranded wire connections is corroded it is next to impossible to ever
clean it properly. Solid wire is easily cleaned for reconnection.
