That might be the source of our disconnects. We're equating "lock nuts" with 
"jamnuts". In my simple-mindedness, I think of a lock nut (one nut+one 
threaded shank) as something to keep a threaded shank from rotating in a 
tapped hole, whereas a jamnut (two nuts + one threaded shank) is used 
against another nut to keep both from rotating on a threaded shank.
