Gary, you really need to read an article written by Al Christman, K3LC.
Just look him up on Google under his article name: Maximum Gain Radial
Ground Systems for Vertical Antennas. It was originally written for the NCJ
(National Contest Journal) March/April 2004.

I've heard/read that when laying radials on the ground there's really not
much benefit to making the radial length any longer then the height of your
antenna. So... if I'm using a ground mounted hustler 6bv(?) vertical that's
25' tall I might as well make my radials all 25' long. Wonder if anyone has
an opinion on that? Also... any problem just using galvanized electric fence
wire for radials?

Thanks for input. This will be my primary antenna till I get my newly
purchased tower up in the next few months.
