For 12V, run the biggest wiring you can afford. I'd say #8 or #6. Do 
NOT use the chassis as return, run your power wiring as pairs. A 
typical 100W ham rig pulls about 20A on transmit, 2A on receive. 
Elecraft gear draws a lot less on receive, about the same on 
transmit (unless you run lower power).
