I have used 1200# old style Philly for about 15 years.  I used  it with 
clamps as caternaries in FL and out in KH6.  I noticed the same  "squeezing"

and was concerned about it.  However, I was not guying towers  so I wasn't 
concerned.  However, it's been ten years since I noticed it,  and haven't
had a 
failure.
