Off-center fed antennas are a really bad idea, primarily because they make the feedline a part of the antenna. This puts RF in the shack, increases the likelihood of RFI to your neighbors, and picks up noise to interfere with the stations you're trying to work. A common mode choke could solve this problem, BUT: the off-center feed places a very high common mode voltage across the choke, making it likely to fry.
