Could you? Yes.  SHOULD you?  Probably not a good idea.  

It depends on the tree species and it's health.   Some trees are shallow rooted 
and pull out easily.   A 2' diameter tree is an older, bigger tree and it's 
health may be declining.   I can do through the woods here and find too many 
big, old trees that have been pushed over by the wind, tearing their roots out. 
  I wouldn't want to have had a tower supported by one.

I wouldn't trust it.
