The RF Industries RFA-4005 crimper and the RFA4005-01 5-cavity die set make excellent RG-8X connectors. These tools are handy when you are on a high roof (or on a tower) and don't have a soldering iron handy.

Back on topic... I am a big fan of DX Engineering and frequently purchase from them.

As far as I can remember, RG-8X has always had a stranded center conductor. As
for connectors, I always
used a standard PL-259 with the threaded reducer for RG-59. I've never seen a
crimp for RG-8X.

The lack of supplied schematics is bothersome!

I shared the effusive praise opinion for DXE until a recent transaction. I purchased RG8X cable and ordered Crimp/Crimp connectors to go with. The connectors supplied were for old style solid conductor 8X cable, and their DXE brand coax with a stranded center conductor would not fit into the center crimp. When contacted, their only response was “So, what do you expect us to do about it?” They would offer no solution, and were very rude on the phone.

I will not do business with them again.
