Well, not quite.  Yes, 4nec2 files have a .nec extension but they typically do 
not follow standard NEC conventions.  For example, Paul's posted file contains 
these lines:

SY len = 350    'Element Length
SY ang = 67     'Included Angle
SY hgt = 80     'Height AGL
SY x = len*sin(ang/2), y = len*cos(ang/2)       'Cartesian Angle Computation
GW      1       40      -x      y       hgt     -1      0       hgt     #14

"SY" is not a standard NEC card type and "GW" cards using non-numeric fields 
are not standard.  So EZNEC treats this .nec file as having an invalid format.

That also has a caution to it.  4nec2 will import simple .ez files but will not 
recognize some of the things found in newer .ez files such as wire insulation 
specs, transformers (baluns), or L-networks.
