Bottom legs will be a minimum of 2.5 inchs..and solid. Typ
2.5 to 3.0 inches. Pirod is known for its solid legs. Im guessing
base is 6-8 ft across, each face..maybe more. Dunno if its in 10 or
20 ft sections. Either way, the very bottom section is gonna weigh
one helluva lot more than you think. 1000-2500 lbs."

These are 20 ft. sections and Jim, VE7RF is correct. Even lifting the lower
section alone requires a crane . It's not like taking a section of Rohn 55
or 65 and placing it on the base pier. These are massive, heavy towers of
the type used in the cellular industry.

The end result is to ensure that the template can be removed *without*
cutting it off. Freely removing the template absolutely guarantees the
bottom section will mount onto the J-bolts. Each template is customized to
fit using the exact hole spacing on the lower section. The template is
fabricated on the base section. No two templates are precisely the same.

Still, there's some limited value in using just one section as it does
provide some additional ability to make fine adjustment if necessary on
crane day. We'll have that ability but still need the crane to make it
happen.

Crane rental for the installation of two towers and antennas on a good day
without issues, is still close to $2,000 -- more if extra time is needed to
sort through the base issues, especially if a second day is needed.
