Typo indeed. It's a DCU-3. The encoder is the nob you turn to manually set the 
direction you want to go you. Looks like a pot, but has no stops.

What is an encoder for in the DC-3 for?

Do you mean DCU-3?  Again, what is the encoder for?  What are you referring
to?

I like my DC-3 rotor controller, but find the encoder maddening.



It takes MANY turns to get to the direction you want to point at!



Can anyone suggest a fix or replacement encoder?
