Ultimately, it comes down to "trust your retailer"
One can ask for traceability to the mfr
One can ask for a certificate of conformance

~20 years ago, in the electronics industry, that was a checkbox and a extra few tens of cents when one ordered the same foreign crap, but needed a fancy piece of paper to go with it to clear FCC, CE, UL, et cetera.

Asking for one, got one. Still junk. At the time, the FCC/UL/CE stickers could be bought in rolls of 1,000 on places like ebay. Compliance, certification, traceability documents by the ream, just send a message with what info you wanted put where when they print them up.

The really funny part is checking FCC ID #'s, and seeing a few of those old fake docs entered into the FCC database. They have things like [Enter Company Name Here], [Enter Mailing Address Here], some in English, some in Chinese, on the document! No name, no address, but the fake doc with the prompts, sometimes even in the language of the counterfeiter! And the FCC still passed the item, then posted the fake papers of compliance!
