If I were looking to buy a large number of UHF connectors, I'd buy a
single one to check it out first before buying a large number. I'd
buy two or three and try soldering them if solder is going to be used.
Besides how they thread, another thing to look for is how well the
females grip the pin. I have had junk panel mount females that barely
hold the pin and burn up at continuous high power due to contact
resistance. With a good female (a real Amphenol for example) you will
feel resistance to the pin going in because the female cup fingers
will not push apart easily and it will hold the male vertically
without the collar threading on. Defective ones will not hold in that
test. Have a genuine Amphenol pair of male/female to use to test for
threading and the female hold. I also stay away from teflon because
fake teflon can be made to look like the real thing. You have white
insulation but what is it really. Who knows if it's off shore.
Another sign of off brand stuff is what look and feel to me like
aluminum plated with silver. I don't think Amphenol uses aluminum but
I may be wrong about that. Aluminum isn't rugged enough for me.
Happy New Year
