Hola!!

This has been my first contest experience out of NA and it was
both frustrating and interesting, frustrating 'cause of murphy
hitting me in all ways. From losing my conecting flights and making
it into Spain with 3 hours of sleep in three days to find 160 useless and
Rf problems on 80 and finally catching a terrible flu
(fever,headaches,cough etc,,,)

Thanks to my friend Eduardo I had all the attentions that anybody
would like on a contest, his family was great in helping feel right
at home. Hes got a great station on beautiful Barcelona, on top of a
building consisting of an X9 with 1 40 mtr element and dipoles.

I was expecting better propagation, since I heard all the NA stations
doing so well, especially KC1XX who was 20 db louder than everyone
when the bands opened.. Congrats!!! 10 mtrs was a little dissapointing
from EA, but I loved the Low bands, everybody so close by is great and keeps
a very tired and sick operator awake.

Now I know why everybody loves to go to EA8/EA9, I guess that it is an
impossible location to beat when you are so close to both radio worlds.
Propagation is a little tricky.... A good advice..before operating from a
location take a few days to learn it well, dont rely on MUF/grayline and
propagation programs for your strategy, a contest is not normal dx
conditions!!!

Thanks and see you when rebuild is completed after hurricane George's!!
