Soap Box
Fun Fun Fun!!!!!! But I wasted time on 20 meters at start....should have began
on 10 meters...thought process was messed up by adopting new dog from pound 1
hour before contest-

Was excited to try out my new 160 meter inverted L antenna I made this week
for next week's contest for a total investment of $30 bucks. The antenna did
great on 160 meters compared to Butternut HF2V. I actually scored better on
160 meters than 80 meters for the first time ever in a multiband contest.

WX here was great...no wind until the last hour of the contest compared to
the 60 mph sustained winds the day before.......warm wx for WY in
January....no snow and around 40-50 degrees all day-

Missed NE, ND, WY(go figure), MT, MB, Quebec, NS, AK, and SK for section
sweep- Worked a couple of JA's and one ZF 2x for the only DX contacts I
counted-

After previous day ground test of apprx. 80 miles in which the inverted L
tuned on 40 meters was a lot louder than the Butternut HF2V, the Butternut was
on average, 1 s unit better on 40 meters than the tuned 160 meter inverted
L......with the exception of 80 meters, I thought the band conditions here
were fb-

I run most contests barefoot and it was nice to see everyone on somewhat of
an even keel although some signals were generated by what must be asome
antennas- was odd to hear fans in the background though on some of these big
sigs-hummmmm.....must be warm in some places.....

With my shack free of any MFJ equipment, nothing broke down and all the
equipment worked ok! If you have any problems with your MFJ memory voice
keyers, or CW keyers, please e mail a message about it- I'll pass it along- I
have tried 5 different MFJ voice and CW keyers with poor results,....MFJ
claims their stuff works just great............this conversation could go on
for several lines but I'll save it- I had a good time in this contest and
don't want to dwell on Christmas pasts- har de har har! see you all next week
in 160 cw contest! and goooooOOOOOOOOOO Broncos! 73 Paul N0AH
