Roger, that's a Hunk'a Hunk'a burning LOVE! You know, THE KING!

Did we win?
        -- NO WAY

Do we care?
        -- NO WAY

Did we rock things, have fun, and blow each other out of the chair?

        -- HELL YES

A Princess and Four Lids did their utmost best, and through their best
they bonded together beyond belief, solidified what youth can do in
contesting, and gave us hope for future things.

Each op sat behind the radio knowing that the others were there, gunning
with them, carrying a common name, and punching through it all equally.
We also sat there with all you guys supporting us. It was overpowering
how much attention we got on the radio. It was easy to feel the unity
of the team. We could tell how we were moving through everyones logs
by listening for, 'are you kidding? another Elvis?'

K3OOO, our Princess, smoked everyone on 15 and 20 meters. Her rate meter
wouldn't fall below the triple digits. Lucas, LU1FAM, our LU Elvis cleaned
up and proved once again that he was at WRTC for more than his beer
drinking abilities. Colin, KU5B, was loud and effective, but got kicked
by noise and storms. Adam, AF4QZ, was +30 just about everywhere and I
promise he doesn't own a amp, he only breaks them. Greg, KE9R, finally
got in the groove when he found a place on 40, said there was free beer,
and conned everyone into a few Q's.

We all had a ball, made notes in our logs when we worked YM stations,
and we promise, this won't be the last you hear of us (or them).

After sorting the logs we found that 35 stations got a clean sweep of
the team:

        AK9N K0BWJ K0CF K3OO K6IF K6III
        K6NR K7NV K9JS K9PW KA1DWX KA6MAL
        KB0BUV KG1E KI7Y KJ9C N0YO N2CU
        N6MJ N6RO N6TW N9RV NX9T VA7LC
        VE3XD W4TDB W5GN W5NN W6EEN W6FRH
        W6JV W6OAT W6TK W6YX WA4OSD

Send a SASE to KE9R and we'll print you up a very frameable award for
the achievement. You can finally take down that ugly CQWW plaque down.

Sara "Princess", K3OOO:

Was off to a rough start because of thunder and lightning storms in the
area causing major noise on all the bands, especially LSB. After about 2
hours of trying desperately to hear, I took a break for an hour or two,
then tried to run once again on 20m. I was basically in shock the entire
time... I had an amazing run going for a good 3 hours, with rates not
dropping below 110 the entire time. Finished up by sweeping 160, 80, and
40, which didn't have as many mults as I would have liked, but I still
picked up a few. 'A Princess and 4 Lids' was a huge success, and this
year we will be the champions no matter what the "old geezers" say. I had
an AMAZING time, thanks so much to everyone on the team for their hard
work. I've never had so much fun in a contest. Great job guys!!

Colin "Elvis", KU5B:

First of all, many thanks to N1LN for letting me use his wonderful
station. I got there at just around 18:00Z and was ready to start on 15m.
Called CQ for a while and realized nobody was responding to me. I checked
the antennas and then the radio. I noticed that it was only putting out
35w. I had forgotten to turn up the power after recording the message into
the dummy load. 15 minutes into the contest I found the RF PO on the Yaesu
FT-1000MP radio. I turned it up to 100w and went rolling along. Then the
storms started rolling in. The noise went up to abt +10dB and could only
hear the very loud stations. Sorry to all the weaker stations I could not
pull out.

10m actually started to open up and I made a few contacts there including
LU1FAM who was 20dB over S9. Once 10m closed here, I moved to 20m. the
band was really crowded both with noise and some of the louder stations.
It was on 20m that I found KE9R. went on a break and came back to even
higher noise. The t'storm was rolling by and we could sure see it.

So, we decided to keep going no matter how high the noise was. I knew 40m
was out of the question, but I had promised to work the low bands. Went to
15m as the noise went down a little. Found AF4QZ on 15m booming in. Then
it was time to go to 40m. The noise was just about +30 bu I did manage to
work some of the locals such as K5ZTY and W5NN(@K5NZ).

I have also decided than the combination of my accent and the name "Elvis"
was not a good choice. Not sure if I will ever be using that name in a
contest. Thanks to the stations who were patient enough getting through
the QRM and QSB to copy my name. Overall, not a very good performance from
a spectacular station.

Great job to K3OOO, KE9R, AF4QZ, and LU1FAM! And lastly, GO WWYC!

"You know me babbbbby, I'm always gooood on the radio."
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Adam "Elvis", AF4QZ

20 meters was open nicely into the west coast, worked many stations out
there and thank all who came back to my CQ. I wish that 15 meters would
have been better for me, didn't seem as though it was open into South
Carolina, so there's your lax result out of that band. 40 and 80 meters
were OUT! I had thunderstorms surrounding me the latter part of the
contest, which, resulted in 40 over S9 static crashes.

I did manage to work 2 "Elvis" and 1 "Princess" Missed the other Elvis
(LU1FAM) but did hear him work a station on 20 meters.

All in all, I had a blast and that's what counts the most. Loved the
team, such an amazing group!

Will never vote for a blood alcohol limit in contesting.

- If 20 meters is a trophy wife, 40 meters is the girl I'll fall in love
  with.

- VE3KZ & NA4W are my 160m heros! 100W to the ant, 99W back to the radio!

- K1, I didn't snatch your frequency, the propagation just shifted and
you have a sharp beam. Be careful, us W9's get the backend of K1 yagis
all the time, someday we amass.

- I remember recommending to someone to have a few beers to solve noise
issues on 40m. After three you just don't care. If I was more interested
in my score I would have had a higher rate on that band, but everyone
deserves to be busted in my log, not just the loud ones.

- K E 9 R Bob Flordia GO! ROBOTO POTATO!

- My hick accent must enunciate Elvis perfectly, not many people had
  problems with it.

- Adam, we're going HEAD TO HEAD for NA SPRINT. I'm not afraid of your
pig farm and your two way communicator.

- Luc, Sara, Adam, Col, I'll be your wingman anytime.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Asleep at the radio, and comfortable.

Lucas "Elvis", LU1FAM

The contest was really fun! I had good 10m/15m runs, the best band was
20m, even was able to work a VE8 :D. Just a few qsos on 40m, W4DJ,
KE9R (Elvis), N9RV, KA6MAL, K0AD, W4WS, K4XS and K4BEV. I heard N9RV
on 80m, but he couldn't heard me, sri Pat :-(. Also heard VP5/IK2SGC,
but he was running guys and couldn't work him :(

Was great to be part of "A Princess and 4 Lids" team, also was nice to
contact them!! Thanks to Sara, Adam, Colin, and Greg!

Also was nice to work some friends! KA5TQF, N6MJ, N6RT @W6EEN, W6OAT,
AA7ML, K9PG, K1AR, N9RV, VE3TPZ, VE3LYC.

I like to thanks the LT1F Team for letting me use their fine station
(thanks LU1FJ, LU1FKR, LU3FZW).

Thanks For Qso's!! CU Next Year!
