FWIW

Sometimes on near in Caribbean stuff I have had luck using the following 
- I have no idea how it works but somehow

Pointing the beam North will work - again I am no propagation person 
other than a user (victim) of its quirks...

ALSO on CW I find it is easier to get attention in these situations by 
sending VERY fast...

If anyone knows why pointing N seems to work sometimes ( successful on 
15/15/20 into Caribbean and sometimes N4BP) lemme know.
